Privacy Policy — EZ-Link B&H Photo Affiliate Tools

Chrome browser extension for the B&H Photo Video Affiliate Program

This Privacy Policy explains how the EZ-Link B&H Photo Affiliate Tools Chrome extension (the “Extension,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information. The Extension is provided free of charge to members of the B&H Photo Video Affiliate Program to help them generate trackable affiliate links. By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the practices described below.

In short: The Extension exists only to turn a B&H Photo Video page or a search keyword into a trackable affiliate link. It does not sell your data, does not serve ads, does not run analytics or tracking, and does not monitor your browsing. The only information it transmits is what is strictly necessary to build your affiliate link, and it is sent only to the B&H affiliate server.

The Extension does not collect your name, email address, passwords, payment information, contacts, or location, and it does not read the content of the web pages you visit.

2. How Information Is Transmitted

When you generate a link, the Extension makes a secure (HTTPS) request to the B&H affiliate API at https://affportal.bhphoto.com. That request includes your affiliate identifiers and the target B&H URL or keyword, and the server returns the finished trackable link (and, if enabled, a bit.ly short link). This is the only external destination the Extension contacts. No information is sent to any other third party.

3. Local Storage on Your Device

Your affiliate identifiers, preferences, and copied-link history are saved using Chrome’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) so you do not have to re-enter them. This data remains on your computer. You can clear your copied-link history at any time using the “Clear” option on the Extension’s History page, and removing (uninstalling) the Extension deletes its locally stored data.

4. Permissions and Why They Are Needed

tabs — to read the URL of your active tab so a link can be generated for the B&H page you are viewing, and to open the small link-result window. It is not used to track browsing history or read page content.
contextMenus — to add the right-click “Search Ready Link for …” option that generates a link from highlighted text.
storage — to save your affiliate identifiers, preferences, and copied-link history locally.
clipboardWrite — to copy a generated link to your clipboard when you click a “Copy” button. The clipboard is never read.
Host access to https://affportal.bhphoto.com/* — to contact the B&H affiliate API that builds your trackable links.

5. How We Use Information

Information is used solely to provide the Extension’s single function: generating trackable B&H Photo Video affiliate links and remembering your settings and recent links. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to that function.

6. Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not transfer it to third parties except as necessary to operate the affiliate link service described above (i.e., to the B&H affiliate server). We do not use or transfer your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

7. Data Retention

Locally stored data (affiliate identifiers, preferences, and copied-link history) is retained on your device until you clear it or uninstall the Extension. Requests to the B&H affiliate server are processed to generate links in accordance with B&H’s standard affiliate program practices.

8. Security

All communication between the Extension and the B&H affiliate server occurs over encrypted HTTPS connections. Because your identifiers and history are stored locally in your browser, keeping your device and browser secure helps protect that information.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Extension is a professional tool intended for participants in the B&H Photo Video Affiliate Program and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above and post the updated version at this URL. Continued use of the Extension after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
